China Wins Third Gold in Swimming

Chinese
swimmer Sun Yang secured his third gold medal at the 2018 Asian Games, after
winning the men's 400-meter freestyle final.
In
the final race at the Gelora Bung Karno Aquatic Stadium, Jakarta, on Tuesday
evening, Sun recorded a time of three minutes 42.92 seconds.
The
victory was greeted by boisterous applause from supporters who roared his name.
The
2016 Olympic gold medalist outperformed two Japanese swimmers, Naito Ehara and
Kosuke Hagino, who recorded three minutes 47.14 seconds and three minutes 47.2
seconds, respectively.
Previously
Sun Yang had collected two golds in the men's 200-m freestyle and men’s 800-m
freestyle.
The
26-year-old athlete also helped the Chinese team win the silver medal in the
men's 4x200-m relay freestyle. In this category, Sun, Xinjie Ji, Keyuan Shang
and Shun Wang recorded a time of seven minutes 5.45 seconds.
They
lost to the Japanese team consisting of Ehara, Reo Sakata, Hagino and Katsuhiro
Matsumoto who won the gold medal with a time of seven minutes 05.17 seconds.
