AIRES -
The shooting range at Parque
Sarmiento exploded with cheers from the spectators when Argentina’s Facundo
Firmapaz shot his way to a bronze medal in the 10m international team mixed
contest alongside Finland’s Viivi Natalia Kemppi.
Hungary’s Zalan Pekler and
Mongolia’s Enkhmaa Erdenechuluun emerged as the winners in the event, which had
its first tests on Wednesday and finished on Thursday.
The mixed international event, the
same one in which Argentina’s Fernanda Russo won the silver medal with Mexico’s
Jose Santos Valdes at Nanjing 2014, took place on the same site that will host
its last medal on Friday with the same format, but in pistol.
Hungary’s Zalan Pekler and Mongolian
Enkhmaa Erdenechuluun won the final 10-9 against Russia’s Anastasiia
Dereviagina and Mexico’s Edson Ismael Ramirez Ramos, while Facundo Firmapaz and
Viivi Natalia Kemppi won the bronze after defeating Mexico’s Gabriela Fernanda
Martinez Lopez and Austria’s Stefan Wadlegger.
"I feel an immense joy for
having added a medal at home and in front of my whole family," said the
Argentine shooter.
