After losing the Test series 2-0, a win in the first one-day
international against the Windies brought Bangladesh some respite and Tamim
Iqbal is happy to play the format the team is 'very comfortable with'.
Bangladesh reached 279/4, helped by Iqbal's 130*, Shakib Al
Hasan's 97 and a late 11-ball 30 from Mushfiqur Rahim, and were then led with
the ball by captain Mashrafe Mortaza, who picked up 4/37 as they restricted the
hosts to 231/9 and won by 48 runs.

"I think the first 10 overs were very very difficult. It
got better after the 25th over," Iqbal, the Player of the Match, said
after the match.
Windies captain Jason Holder struck early for his side, dismissing
Anamul Haque for a duck in the second over of the innings, but Iqbal and Shakib
added 207 runs in 43 overs for the second wicket to take their side to a
respectable total.

But
Rahim's blitz at the death changed the momentum of the game. "Luckily Mushy
played a valuable knock and got us 20-30 runs extra. This is one format where
we feel we are very comfortable. We had a new captain and a new voice,"
Iqbal said.
Mortaza
lauded his batsmen saying they set the tone in challenging conditions. "It
is always hard but I enjoy on the ground. Just play with your heart as you are
playing for your nation. Hopefully, we will carry on from here," Mortaza
said.
"We
won here against South Africa in 2007. Batting was challenging but Shakib and
Tamim set the tone for us and Mushy played a blinder at the end."
Mortaza's
counterpart, Holder, felt that his team bowled well until the 45th over of the
Bangladesh innings but lost the plot thereafter. "They played some good
cricket today. I felt we were pretty good till the 45th over but it fell away
after that. Not enough partnerships with the bat as well," Holder said.

Despite
having a star-studded batting line-up with the likes of Chris Gayle, Ewin Lewis
and Andre Russell, the Windies could not get their chase going as wickets at
regular intervals hampered their scoring rate. Shimron Hetmyer top-scored with
52 and was seconded by Gayle, who made 40, but that clearly wasn't enough.

"We
did not execute today. We need to do it better with the bat and the ball. We've
just got to prepare well. We obviously had our plans today but that did not go
well," Holder said.
Tamim
Iqbal is the Man of the Match for his fine century. He says it was tough going
for them and first 10 overs were very difficult. Feels the wicket became easier
after the 25th over. States that they had a score in mind and luckily Rahim
played a handy cameo to take them there. Admits they didn't play good cricket
in Tests but this is the format they play their best. Further adds that they
wanted to play their 'A' game and is glad that they managed to do so.
