“After the loss in St Kitts, we had a very good chat. We agreed that we can still win against the Windies although they are a very good side,” said Shakib. “We need to play our best game and we had that belief. That is the mindset that changed the momentum.”

The Bangladesh captain also commended the efforts of his bowlers, who at no stage let the game drift away from them. Egged on by a strong Bangladeshi contingent in the stands in Lauderhill, every time the Windies seemed to be forming a partnership, one of the Bangladesh bowlers put his hand up and got the visitors a breakthrough.
“All the bowlers bowled brilliantly,” said Shakib. “Fizz (Rahman) went for a few runs, but he got three crucial wickets, Abu Hider also bowled very well as did the spinners. All in all, it was a complete team effort from us.

“It (the crowd) was a massive factor. We never felt we were away from home. It was like we were playing in Bangladesh.”
Sent in to bat, Bangladesh, like in the opening T20I, lost three quick wickets. Ashley Nurse picked up the key wickets of Liton Das and Mushfiqur Rahim, while Keemo Paul got the better of Soumya Sarkar.
The experienced duo of Iqbal and Shakib got together in the eighth over and took their time to get settled in, manoeuvring the ball and picking the gaps at every interval. Once set, both batsmen took the Windies bowlers apart to up the required rate.

Iqbal, in particular, was his belligerent self, slamming a 44-ball 74 that included six fours and four sixes. He was awarded Player of the Match for his efforts.
“Today I was more patient, I gave myself chance early on and cashed on later,” said a smiling Iqbal. “He (Shakib) played an unbelievable innings. We did not have a great start. As soon as he came in he was looking very good.
“Whenever you score, doesn't matter how the wicket is, you will like it.”

Carlos Brathwaite was an understandably dejected figure after the Windies fell short. The fielding lapses were the one key area that did not go down well with the captain and he hoped his side comes out all guns firing in the final T20I, which will be staged at the same venue on Monday.
“I thought the decision (to field) was right, we got a few wickets, put them under pressure,” said Brathwaite. “But we were casual in the field and that is where the game turned. There were too many lapses in the field and Bangladesh came out trumps.
“I still have full confidence in bouncing back. Casual fielding cost us, we could have improved our attitude a bit. Some days, you have bad days with the bat but we shouldn't have been chasing down those many. As long as the attitude is the same as the first game, we'll be confident of winning.”
