JAKARTA - A summary of the Overall Winner In the competition of the medal events held on Thursday 23 August.

General
LIN Chaopan (CHN) won China's 3000th medal at the Asian Games, in the artistic gymnastics men’s floor exercise event.
Vietnam won its first gold medal at the 2018 Asian Games, in the women’s lightweight quadruple sculls rowing event.
The silver medal won by BAI Yiting (CHN) in the women’s double trap shooting event was the NOC’s 100th medal at the 2018 Asian Games.
QUAN Xin (CHN) was victorious in the Canoe/Kayak Slalom K1 event, giving China its 50th gold medal at the 2018 Asian Games.
Singapore won its 200th total medal at the Asian Games, with bronze in men’s trios bowling event.
At age 15, Shardul VIHAN (IND) became the youngest medallist in an individual event in shooting and the youngest man to win a shooting medal at the Asian Games, when he took silver in the men’s double trap.
Reza ALIPOUR (IRI) won the first-ever gold medal in sport climbing at the Asian Games.
Artistic Gymnastics
Women's vault: YEO Seojeong (KOR) won Republic of Korea’s third gold in women's artistic gymnastics, and its first since 1986, with victory in the beam and in the uneven bars.
Oksana CHUSOVITINA (UZB) took silver. She joins CHEN Cuiting (CHN) as the only other woman to have won a record eight medals in artistic gymnastics. CHUSOVITINA’s silver comes 24 years after she won her first medal.
Men’s floor: KIM Hansol (KOR) won Republic of Korea's third gold medal in this event, after the NOC won in 2002 and 2010. Only China has more golds (9).
LIN Chaopan (CHN) took bronze to deliver China's 3000th medal at the Asian Games.
Men’s pommel horse: LEE Chihkai (TPE) won the first gold medal for Chinese Taipei in any artistic gymnastics event at the Asian Games.
Women’s uneven bars: JON Jang Mi (PRK) took bronze to give DPR Korea its 12th medal in this event. Across all sports, this is the event in which DPR Korea has won the most medals.
Men's rings: China has now won this event for a record-extending 11th time and for the fifth Games in a row.
Bowling
Men’s trios: Japan won a record fifth medal in this event at the Asian Games. Republic of Korea, Malaysia and Singapore follow on four medals each.
Singapore won its 200th total medal at the Asian Games with bronze in this event.
Canoe/Kayak Slalom
Women’s C1: Atcharaporn DUANGLAWA (THA) achieved bronze to become the first slalom paddler from Thailand to claim a medal in a canoe/kayak slalom event (men/women).
Men’s K1: The gold medal won by QUAN Xin (CHN) was China's 50th gold medal at the 2018 Asian Games.
Cycling Road
Men’s road race: Alexey LUTSENKO (KAZ) claimed Kazakhstan's first gold in this event since 1994. He is the first rider to win both the men's individual time trial (2014) and the men's road race (2018) at the Asian Games.
Equestrian
Dressage individual: Jacqueline Wing Ying SIU (HKG) won Hong Kong, China's first gold medal in any equestrian event at the Asian Games. It was also the first gold medal for the NOC at the 2018 Asian Games.
Mahamad Fathil MOHD QABIL AMBAK (MAS) took silver, equalling SHIN Changmoo's (KOR) Asian Games total of seven equestrian medals. Only SUH Jungkyun (KOR, 8) has won more total medals in equestrian at the Asian Games.
Fencing
Women’s foil team: Japan won gold in the women's foil team for the first time. It had already won a record 10 medals in this event, but never gold.
Men’s team sabre: Republic of Korea won its 45th gold medal in fencing, closing in on China's record total of 46 in this sport.
Paragliding
Women’s individual accuracy: Nunnapat PHUCHONG (THA) won her second event at the 2018 Asian Games, after taking gold in the women's team accuracy event. She is the third female athlete from Thailand to win multiple gold medals in a sport other than sepaktakraw, after Anantita HONGSOPHON in bowling (2) and Noppakao POONPAT in sailing (2).
Men’s individual accuracy: Jafro MEGAWANTO (INA) won Indonesia's seventh gold medal at the 2018 Asian Games. It is the third time that the NOC has won at least seven gold medals at one Asian Games, after 1962 (11) and 1978 (8).
At 45 years of age, bronze medallist LEE Chulsoo (KOR) became the first athlete older than 35 to win multiple medals at the 2018 Asian Games.
Rowing
Men’s single sculls: ZHANG Liang (CHN) won a record seventh gold for China in the event, but the first for the NOC since CUI Yonghui (CHN) won gold in 2002.
Women’s single sculls: CHEN Yunxia (CHN) won gold. China has now won the women's single sculls at eight of the nine Asian Games this event has been held. The exception is 2014.
Men’s double sculls: Uzbekistan won its second gold medal in the men's double sculls at the Asian Games, having won the event in 2006. It is the first rowing event (men or women) in which Uzbekistan has won multiple gold medals.
Women’s double sculls: JIANG Yan (CHN) and LI Jingjing (CHN) won gold. China have won every edition of this event at the Asian Games, since it was first held in 2002.
Men's pair: China achieved gold and has now won 10 of the 11 pair events at the Asian Games in rowing (men and women combined), the exception being Japan’s victory in this event in 1986.
Women’s pair: China has now won this event all seven times it has been held at the Asian Games.
Women’s lightweight quadruple sculls: Vietnam won its first gold medal in rowing and its first gold at the 2018 Asian Games.
Men’s lightweight four: China won its fifth gold medal in this event at the Asian Games.
Shooting
Women's double trap: LI Qingnian (CHN) won gold to become the first shooter to win this event multiple times at the Asian Games. She also won gold in 2010.
The silver medal won by BAI Yiting (CHN) was the NOC’s 100th at the 2018 Asian Games.
Men’s double trap: SHIN Hyunwoo (KOR) became the first to win this event for Republic of Korea and provide his NOC with its 250th shooting medal.
Shardul VIHAN (IND) took silver and became at age 15 the youngest medallist in an individual shooting event and the youngest man to win a shooting medal at the Asian Games.
Sport climbing
Men’s speed: Reza ALIPOUR (IRI) won the first-ever gold medal in sport climbing at the Asian Games. He also won this event at the 2017 Asian championships and at the 2017 World Games.
Women’s speed: Susanti Rahayu ARIES (INA) is the first woman to win a gold medal in sport climbing. Lestari PUJI (INA) gives Indonesia its first 1-2 finish in a non-badminton event at the Asian Games.
Swimming
Men’s 50m butterfly: Joseph Isaac SCHOOLING (SGP) wins his third individual gold medal, equalling Neo Chwee-Kok for most among swimmers from Singapore. It is SCHOOLING's second gold of these Games and he is still the only swimmer not from Japan or China to win gold in Jakarta.
Women's 50m breaststroke: Satomi SUZUKI (JPN) repeats her gold medal from 2014 to become the first woman to win the 50m breaststroke twice.
Men's 100m freestyle: Shinri SHIOURA (JPN) is the first Japanese man to win this event at the Asian Games since Shunsuke ITO in 1998. Japan has now won this event 10 times. China is next on four gold medals.
Women's 800m freestyle: WANG Jianjiahe (CHN) is the first woman to win the 800m/1500m double at the Asian Games. The last to win the two longest women's freestyle events at a single Asian Games was CHEN Hua (CHN) in 1998, when she won the 400m and 800m freestyle.
Men's 200m backstroke: XU Jiaoyu (CHN) becomes the first athlete to win gold in all three backstroke events at a single Asian Games. He won gold in the men's 200m backstroke, 100m and 50m. XU is the first man to win four gold medals in swimming at the 2018 Asian Games.
Women's 4x100m medley relay: Japan won this event for the 10th time. It is the third women's swimming event in which it has won at least 10 times, after the 4x100m freestyle (10 times) and the 200m breaststroke.
Hong Kong, China equalled its best swimming result at the Asian Games. It also took silver in the women's 4x100m freestyle in 1994.
Taekwondo
Men’s -68kg: Amirmohammad BAKHSHIKALHORI (IRI) won the men’s -68kg event. At age 18, he is the youngest athlete to win gold or silver in this event at the Asian Games this century.
Women’s -49kg: Panipak WONGPATTANAKIT (THA) won Thailand's sixth medal in this event, the most in a single taekwondo event for the NOC.
Weightlifting
Men’s 77kg: CHOE Jon Wi (PRK) gave DPR Korea its fourth gold medal in weightlifting at these Games. It equaled its single Asian Games record set in 2014.
Women’s 58kg: KUO Hsingchun (TPE) won Chinese Taipei's fourth weightlifting gold medal at the Asian Games, after KO Bubeng won the men's 75kg in 1958, HSU Shu-Ching took the women's 53kg in 2014, and LIN Tzu Chi the women's 63kg in 2014.
Wushu
Women’s sanda 52kg: LI Yueyao (CHN) won gold. China has won the women's sanda 52kg on all three occasions it has been held at the Asian Games.
Women’s sanda 60kg: CAI Yingying (CHN) won gold, after her compatriot WANG CONG (CHN) won this event in 2014.
Men’s sanda 56kg: SHEN Guoshun (CHN) took gold. China has won five of the six gold medals in this event at the Asian Games. The NOC has won each of the last four (2006-2018).
Men’s sanda 60kg: Erfan AHANGARIAN (IRI) became the second Iranian to win gold in the men's sanda -60kg event, after Mohsen MOHAMMADSEIFI in 2010. Iran (2) and China (4) are the only NOCs to have won this event at the Asian Games.
Men’s sanda 65kg: LI Mengfan (CHN) won gold for China. The NOC is the first to win a medal in a specific wushu event at six consecutive Asian Games. They won gold in 1998, 2006 and 2010, and bronze in 2002 and 2014.
Men’s sanda 70kg: Mohsen MOHAMMADSEIFI (IRI) has now won gold in the men's sanda at -60kg (2010), -65kg (2014) and -70kg (2018). MOHAMMADSEIFI is the fourth Iranian athlete to win three different events at the Asian Games (all sports), after Reza YAZDANI in wrestling and weightlifters Houshang KAREGARNEZHAD and Mohammed NASSIRI.
