Iran bagged another gold medal through Hossein Nouri, who won the men's greco-roman
87 kg wrestling final against Rustam Assakalov of Uzbekistan on Wednesday
night.
Competing
at the Jakarta Convention Center Assembly Hall, Nouri won 6-1 on technical
points and 3-1 on classification points.
With
his victory, Iran has won two medals in men's greco-roman wrestling and three
medals in men’s freestyle.
In
the freestyle event, Iran's victory was won in the 86 kg class by Hassan
Yazdanicharati, the men's 97 kg class by Alireza Kariminachiani and Parviz
Hadibasmanj in the 125 kg class, while the men's Greco-roman 77 kg was won by
Mohammadali Geraei.
In
the first three minutes, the match was fierce, with the two opponents wanting
to win the first technical point, but it resulted in only one point for each
wrestler.
In
the second three minutes after a 30-second break, Assakalov looked very tired
and Nouri took the advantage to add five points by the end of the match.
The
victory was greeted with joy, and he invited his coach up to the arena and
together they celebrated by unfurling their nation's flag.
Nouri
also hugged his coach repeatedly and saluted his supporters in the stands.
Two
bronze medals were won by Turkmenistan wrestler Ovelekov Shyhazberdi and Kazakh
wrestler Azamat Kustubayev.
