The
India rowing team has won the gold medal in the men's quadruple sculls.
India,
comprising Sawarn Singh, Bhokanal, Om Prakash and Singh B., won after competing
at the Jakabaring Sports City rowing venue in Palembang, South Sumatra, on
Friday, outperforming opponents from Indonesia and Thailand with a record time
of 6:17.13.
Indonesia’s
Kusmana, Rudiana, Sulpianto and Memo M. posted a time that also broke the
previous record after clocking in at 6:20.58. Having targeted the gold,
Indonesia had to settle for a silver medal.
Bronze
went to Thailand’s Arnunamang, Phromphoem M., Nampratueng P. and Saensuk J.
with a time of 6:22.41.
