The
Japan rowing team has won a gold medal in the 2018 Asian Games rowing men’s
lightweight double sculls.
Japan
won after struggling at the Jakabaring Sports City rowing venue in Palembang,
South Sumatra, on Friday. It bested opponents South Korea and India with a time
of 7:01.70.
Indonesia’s
Mardiana R. and Yanto M. ended the race without a medal, finishing fourth with a
time of 7:07.20.
Silver
went to South Korea pair Kim Byung-Hoon and Lee Minhyuk with a time of 7:03.22.
Bronze
was won by India’s Kumar R. and Bhagwan Singh after they clocked in at 7:04.61.
Seven
gold medals in rowing finals were up for grabs at Jakabaring Sports City on
Friday morning in the categories of men's and women's
lightweight
single sculls, men's and women's lightweight double sculls, men’s and women’s
four and men's lightweight eight.
Indonesia
won one of the seven golds, coming out on top in men’s lightweight eight with a
time of 6:08.88, defeating second-place
Uzbekistan
and third-place Hong Kong, China.
The
Indonesia team comprised Hadid Tanzil, Yakin Muhad, Darmawan Rio Rizki,
Ardianto, Button Ali, Ferdiansyah, Ihram, Ishadi and Hasbulloh.
