China Win 2nd Gold In Women’s

China
increased its gold medal count on the sixth day of the shooting competition at
the 2018 Asian Games in Jakabaring Sports City, Palembang, on Friday.
Qian
Wang earned a gold medal for China in the women’s 10-meter air pistol by
scoring 240.3 points. Minjung Kim of South Korea won silver for her 237.6
points and India’s Heena Sidhu won bronze with 219.2 points.
Qian
Wang displayed a consistent performance throughout the Games. In the
qualification stage, she scored better than 43 athletes with 570 points. Her
stage 1 and stage 2 scores of 50.5 and 101.7 points topped the tables and by
stage 9 she scored 240.3, an Asian Games record.
“I’m
very happy for having performed very well,” said the 25-year-old shooter who
ranks seventh in the world. With the victory, China has gathered seven medals
in shooting – the most of any contingent.
This
is Wang’s first gold in the 2018 Asian Games. Previously, she settled for
second at the 2018 shooting world cup in Munich, Germany, by scoring 238.9
points.
Meanwhile,
Indonesia’s two shooters lost in the qualification stage. Bary Agustini Said
ranked 37th with 543 points and Talitha Judith Almira finished 40th with 522
points.
