China bags Win gold in mixed relay

China
won the first gold medal in the 2018 Asian Games’ mixed 4 x 100 meter medley
relay at Gelora Bung Karno’s Aquatic Stadium in Jakarta on Wednesday evening.
China’s
swimming quartet – comprising two male swimmers, Xu Jiayu and Yan Zibei, and
two female swimmers, Zhang Yufei and Zhu Menghui – finished first with a time
of 3 minutes 40.45 seconds.
The
four set the first time record for the Games’ mixed relay, which made its debut
this year.
Xu
Jiayu started the backstroke section well and recorded a time of 52.30 seconds.
Second swimmer Yan Zibei maintained China’s lead, finishing the breaststroke
section in 58.45 seconds.
However,
Zhang Yufei, who swam in butterfly style, lagged behind with a time of 56.61
seconds. Zhu Menghui rallied in freestyle and secured the top spot for her
team.
Japan
took home the silver medal with 3 minutes 41.21 seconds, 0.76 seconds.
South
Korea (KOR) settled for the bronze medal after completing the relay in 3
minutes 49.27 seconds.
Meanwhile,
Indonesia’s swimmers, I Gede Siman Sidartawa, Anandia Evato, Glenn Victor Sutanto
and Patricia Yosita Hapsari, finished in sixth position, recording a time of 3
minutes 55.37 seconds.
