President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo
called Indonesian wushu athlete Lindswell Kwok Wushu the “Queen of Asia” after
she contributed a second gold medal to Indonesia in the 2018 Asian Games in
Jakarta on Monday.
“Lindswell, wushu queen of Southeast
Asia, now becomes the queen of Asia. Congratulations
The President expressed his great
pride in the achievement of the second gold on the second day of the Games.
President Jokowi, who also watched
the wushu competition in Hall B of JIExpo Kemayoran Jakarta, even gave his
thumbs up to Lindswell Kwok.
“Indonesia earned the second gold on
the second day of the 2018 Asian Games. This morning, Lindswell Kwok grabbed a
gold medal for wushu in the Taijijian All-Round event in Hall B of JIExpo
Kemayoran, Jakarta,” the President further tweeted.
Lindswell Kwok succeeded in securing
her gold after gaining near-perfect scores of 9.75 for Taijiquan and Taijijian,
which made Lindswell a champion after beating her competitors in points.
In women’s Taijiquan-Taijijian,
Lindswell accumulated 19.50 points, divided into 9.75 for Taijiquan and 9.75
for Taijijian.
On social media, Lindswell’s
achievement received overwhelming appreciation. The President’s tweet has
received over 5,400 likes and 3,676 retweets.
Even a Twitter user from
disaster-stricken Lombok joined in expressing appreciation to Lindswell.
