Japanese
archers Tomomi Sugimoto and Takaharu Furukawa took home gold in the recurve
mixed-team category following their landslide victory over DPR Korea.
Takaharu
said he was proud and grateful for his gold medal win in the 2018 Asian Games.
"I
competed in three archery events and won gold in one of them,” he said.
The
Japanese duo crushed DPR Korea 6-0 in the three-round match at the Archery
Field in the Gelora Bung Karno (GBK) sport complex in Jakarta on Tuesday.
In
the first round, Japan achieved a narrow lead of 36-35. The Japanese archers
showed their dominance with 40-33 in the second round and 38-36 in the final
round.
Japan
collected a total of 114 points, while DPR Korea archers Kang Un-ju and Pak
Yong-won lagged behind with 104 points.
