(ANTARA News) - China's Wang Jianjiahe has expressed dissatisfaction with her
gold medal-winning performance in the Asian Games women's 800-meter freestyle,
in which she set a new Games record of 8 minutes 18.55 seconds.
Wang
presented a gold medal for China in the women's 1,500-meter freestyle at the
GBK Aquatic Stadium in Jakarta on Thursday night. She broke the record set by
fellow China swimmer Li Xuanxu, who clocked 8 minutes 23.55 seconds at the 2010
Asian Games in Guangzhou.
Despite
breaking the Games record, Wang felt bemoaned the fact that her time was far
behind the world record of 8 minutes 4.79 seconds held by US athlete Katie
Ledecky in the 2016 Rio Olympics.
"Even
though I ranked first today, there is still a time gap between me and the world
champion," Wang told reporters.
Wang
has vowed to improve her performance. On the other hand, she does not want to
be burdened by her ambition as she has plenty of time to excel in swimming.
"I'm
not too stressed, after all, I'm still young," said the 16-year-old
swimmer.
Wang
has bagged three Asian Games gold medals, which further strengthens China's
position on top of the Asian Games medal tally with a total of 55 gold medals,
40 silver medals and 21 bronze medals.
