The
Republic of Korea won gold in the women's team of six bowling category at the
Bowling Center in Jakabaring Sport City, South Sumatra, on Friday.
The
Korean players — Baek Seungja, Han Byul, Kim Hyun Mi, Lee Yeonji, Ryu Seoyeon
and Lee Nayoung, achieved the highest score of 8,338.
In
second place, Malaysia won silver with a score 8,149, with Chinese Taipei
coming in third to take bronze with a score of 7,969.
Meanwhile,
Indonesia failed to win a medal as it finished in fifth place with a score of
7,950.
The
Indonesian players in this category comprised Sharon Adelia Liman Santoso,
Putty Insavila Armein, Alisha Nabila Larasati, Aldila Indryati, Nadia Pramanik
Nurmalina and Tannya Roumimper.
Tannya
Roumimper and her team almost won the bronze medal and were only 19 pins behind
Chinese Taipei.
"The
Indonesian team was 19 pins behind Chinese Taipei in third place, only the last
two throws from Sharon and Alisha failed to knock down all the pins," said
Indonesia team manager, Ronny Arnold Mandagi.
During
the competition, which lasted until Friday night, young bowler Nadia Pramanik
performed very well with a score of 1,494.
In
her two appearances in the women's trio and women's team of six, Nadia was more
relaxed.
With
this failure, it has become even more difficult for the Indonesian bowling team
to realize its target of two gold medals at the 2018 Asian Games.
There
are still three events left, with the men's team of six competition to be held
on Saturday (Aug. 25).
Meanwhile,
bowlers from Malaysia and the Republic of Korea scored pretty evenly in their
team of six contest.
It
was a tight contest, with Malaysia slightly behind on 5,431, while the Republic
of Korea led with a score of 5.446.
The
Republic of Korea stayed away from the fifth game, before finishing the rival's
resistance with 189 pins.
The
Chinese Taipei women's team also performed fairly consistently on the third
day. They dropped athletes Chang Yuh Sun, Pan Yufen, Chou Chiacen, Tsai Hsinyi,
Huang Chiungyao, and Wang Yating.
Thus,
bowling medals were evenly distributed among Malaysia, the Republic of Korea
and Japan with one gold each. In addition, Malaysia won two silver medals.
The
men's team of six competition will be held on Saturday (Aug. 25).
