The
Indonesia women's water polo team lost to Thailand 20-7 at the 2018 Asian Games
at the Aquatic Stadium in Senayan, Jakarta, on Tuesday. The result places
Indonesia in fifth out of six countries in the final standings.
Thinwilay
Janista of Thailand scored the most goals with seven, followed by Saraikarn
Varistha with five.
In
the fight for fourth position, the performance of Indonesia declined compared
to its showing in its previous match against Kazakhstan, allowing Thailand to
easily take the lead at 5-1 in the first quarter.
Thailand,
which was named the best ASEAN team, dominated the game in the second quarter
to bring the score to 8-2.
In
the third quarter, Balqis Siti of Indonesia scored two points but it did not
help to significantly narrow the deficit, with Thailand staying on top 16-7.
In the fourth quarter, Thailand closed the game
with a score of 20-7, putting them in fourth in the final standings, one slot
above Indonesia.
