PSL Highlights 23th Match 2019: Quetta Gladiators defeat Peshawar Zalmi and retain top spot
DUBAI: Quetta Gladiators win by 8 wickets. Quetta Gladiators defeated Peshawar Zalmi by eight wickets in the 23rd match of Pakistan Super League's fourth edition in Abu Dhabi, retaining their top spot at the points table once again as they qualify for the Pakistan leg.
In spite of a strong power play by the Zalmis in the first innings with Kamran Akmal and Andre Fletcher hitting frequent fours and sixes, the Gladiators were easily able to chase the target owing to Shane Watson being in tremendous form in today's match as he along with Ahmed Shehzad built a solid start.
While Watson remained not out and hit the last required run, Shehzad was sent back to the hut by Umaid Asif in the 16th over.
Kamran Akmal for Zalmi's innings managed to score half a century before getting bowled out in the 17th over by Mohammad Hasnain which laid out the foundations for the team to set the innings.
On the other hand, a key player for the Zalmi’s Kieron Pollard delivered a firm performance knocking boundaries, while Imam-ul-Haq who has performed well in previous matches fell short this time and was sent back to the pavilion on his sixth over.
In terms of fielding, 18-year-old Mohammad Hasnain’s performance was underwhelming, however, he managed to get back in the game during his last over.
