JAKARTA - A summary of the Match of the events held on
Friday 31 August
General
Vietnam
has now won 37 medals at the 2018 Asian Games, the most for the NOC at a single
Asian Games. The previous record of 36 was set in Incheon four years ago.
Republic
of Korea won its 150th medal of these Asian Games, a bronze in women’s
football.
Uzbekistan
won its 57th medal at the Asian Games, breaking its record of total medals at a
single edition, set when it won 56 medals at the Guangzhou 2010 Asian Games.
Mongolia
won its 22nd medal of the 2018 Asian Games, a new record at a single Asian
Games.
India's
silver medal in women’s hockey was the NOC’s 65th total medal at the 2018 Asian
Games, equalling the NOC's record set in 2010.
Baseball
Men’s:
Republic of Korea defeated China 10-1 to secure a place in the final against
Japan and can now become the first NOC to win this event three times in a row.
Japan
beat Chinese Taipei 5-0 to claim a spot in the final.
Chinese
Taipei and China will compete in the bronze medal match.
Boxing
Men’s
52kg: Azat USENALIEV (KGZ) took bronze to become the first athlete from
Kyrgyzstan to claim a medal in the men's 52kg event at the Asian Games.
Men’s
56kg: Sunan Agung AMORAGAM (INA) took bronze to claim the first medal for
Indonesia in this event since 1990 when Franky MAMUAYA (INA) won the bronze
medal.
Men's
60kg: Rujakran JUNTRONG (THA) claimed a sixth medal for Thailand in this event,
but only the second in the past 20 years, after Tassamelee THONGJAN (THA) took
silver in 2010.
SHAN
Jun (CHN) claimed a bronze for China. China is the only NOC to win a medal in
this event at all Asian Games since 2006.
Men’s
64kg: Daisuke NARIMATSU (JPN) won Japan's only medal in boxing at these Games.
Japan's last eight medals in this sport are all bronze, dating back to 1998.
Men’s
75kg: Eumir Felix MARCIAL (PHI) leaves the Jakarta Palembang 2018 Asian Games
with bronze to give the Philippines their third medal in this event. Bernardo
BELLEZA took bronze at the Bangkok 1966 Asian Games and Wilfredo LOPEZ took
bronze in Incheon in 2014.
Women’s
51kg: LIN Yuting (TPE) became the first female boxer from Chinese Taipei to
claim a medal at the Asian Games, taking bronze.
NGUYEN
Thi Tam (VIE) claimed bronze to give Vietnam its 36th medal at the 2018 Asian
Games, equalling its record for most medals at a single Asian Games, set in
Incheon in 2014.
Women's
60kg: Huswatun HASANAH (INA) won bronze to hand Indonesia its first Asian Games
medal in women's boxing.
CHOE
Hye Song (PRK) is the third woman from DPR Korea to take a boxing medal at the
Asian Games, and the second in the lightweight event after JU Yun Kum took
bronze in 2010.
Cycling track
Women’s
madison: Republic of Korea won the first gold medal in the women's madison at
the Asian Games. NA Ahreum (KOR) claimed her fifth gold in cycling road and
cycling track events combined at the Asian Games, equalling the record for most
by one rider. CHO Ho-Sung (KOR) and JANG Sun-Jae (KOR) also won five gold
medals in the two sports combined.
Women’s
sprint: LEE Wai Sze (HKG) won gold, as she did at Incheon in 2014. It was the
fifth gold in total for LEE in cycling track events at the Asian Games,
equalling the record in this sport. Both CHO Ho-Sung (KOR) and JANG Sun-Jae
(KOR) have also won five golds in cycling track.
Men's
madison: Gold medallists LEUNG Chun Wing (HKG) and CHEUNG King Lok (HKG)
claimed Hong Kong, China's sixth medal in cycling track at the 2018 Asian
Games, equalling the NOC’s record in this sport set in 2010.
It
was also the second gold medal for Hong Kong, China in cycling track. In 2014,
it also won multiple gold medals in this sport at a single Asian Games (also
two).
Men’s
keirin: Jai ANGSUTHASAWIT (THA) became the first athlete from Thailand to win
gold in a men's event in cycling track since 1970, when the NOC won three
events.
Diving
Women’s
1m springboard: WANG Han (CHN) became the fourth woman to win multiple medals
in the event, after compatriot WU Minxia (G, 2006, 2010). WANG added gold to
her silver in 2014.
CHEN
Yiwen (CHN) secured a 1-2 finish for China. The NOC has finished first and
second in all five women's 1m springboard events at the Asian Games (1990,
2006-2018).
Men’s
3m springboard: XIE Siyi (CHN) added gold in this event to the gold medal he
won in the men's synchro 3m springboard.
CAO
Yuan (CHN) collected his fifth medal at the Asian Games, but the first one that
is not gold. He is the fourth man to win at least five medals in diving.
Football
Women’s:
Japan won its second gold medal in the event, repeating its success in 2010,
when Aya SAMESHIMA (JPN) was also part of the winning squad.
The
silver medal for China was its first medal in the event since the NOC claimed
bronze in 2006.
Republic
of Korea took bronze, the 150th total medal for the NOC at the 2018 Asian
Games.
Handball
Men’s:
Qatar became the second NOC to win the men's handball tournament at consecutive
Asian Games, after Republic of Korea won five in a row between 1986 and 2002.
Hockey
Women’s:
Japan defeated India 2-1 to become the fourth NOC to win gold in women’s hockey
at the Asian Games after Republic of Korea (5), China (3) and India (1).
China
defeated Republic of Korea 2-1 to win bronze. It is their eighth Asian Games
medal in women's hockey (G3-S2-B3), equalling the record set by Republic of
Korea (G5-S3-B0)
Republic
of Korea failed to win a medal in women's hockey for only the second time at
the Asian Games, after also finishing fourth in 2006.
Judo
Men’s
-90kg: GWAK Donghan (KOR) won gold, after taking bronze in Incheon in 2014. He
joined Yoshio NAKAMURA (JPN) and Dilshod CHORIEV (UZB) in having won two medals
in this event.
Women’s
-78kg: Ruika SATO (JPN) became the first Japanese athlete to win gold in the
women's -78kg event at the Asian Games since Sae NAKAZAWA in 2006.
Men’s
-100kg: At age 20 years and 119 days, Kentaro IIDA (JPN) is the youngest gold
medallist in this event at the Asian Games, breaking the record set by
compatriot Kosei INOUE in 1998 at 20-209.
Women’s
+78kg: Akira SONE (JPN) followed in the footsteps of her countrywoman Mika
SUGIMOTO, who won this event in 2010.
Men’s
+100kg: KIM Sungmin (KOR) became the second athlete from Republic of Korea to
win this event at the Asian Games, after KIM Soowhan won in 2010.
Silver
medallist Duurenbayar ULZIIBAYAR (MGL) claimed Mongolia's 50th Asian Games
medal in judo, the fifth NOC to reach this milestone after Japan, Republic of
Korea and China. Only in wrestling (59) has Mongolia won more medals.
Modern
Pentathlon
Women’s
individual: ZHANG Mingyu (CHN) claimed the gold medal for China. China has now
won this event three of the four times it has been held.
Roller skate
Men's
road 20km race: CHAO Tsucheng (TPE) achieved the fourth gold medal for Chinese
Taipei in roller skate at the Asian Games, surpassing Republic of Korea (3
gold) to become the NOC with most gold medals in this sport.
Women’s
road 20km race: LI Mengchu (TPE) completed a gold double for Chinese Taipei in
roller skate, as compatriot CHAO Tsucheng (TPE) won the men's event.
Sailing
Men’s
RS:X: BI Kun (CHN) claimed the Asian Games title as reigning Asian champion.
Men’s
laser standard: HA Jeemin (KOR) won the gold medal for a record third time at
the Asian Games. He previously shared the record of two gold medals with his
countryman KIM Ho-Kon.
Mixed
RS:One: Chinese duo CHEN Hao and TAN Yue won the gold medal.
Open
laser 4.7: Muhammad Fauzi KAMAN SHAH (MAS) won Malaysia’s fourth gold in
sailing at the Asian Games. The NOC’s previous best total at a single Games was
one sailing gold medal.
Men’s
470: Japan equalled Republic of Korea with a fourth gold in this event at the
Asian Games.
Men’s
49er: Shingen FURUYA (JPN) and Shinji HACHIYAMA (JPN) won gold. FURUYA claimed
his second Asian Games medal, after taking silver in the 420 event in 2006.
CHAE
Bonjin (KOR) won his third Asian Games medal, a silver, and is the third sailor
to win a medal at least 20 years after his first, after Munir SADIQ (PAK,
1978-1998) and Farokh TARAPORE (IND, 1982-2010).
Women’s
RS:X: CHEN Peina (CHN) won gold, after her silver at the Rio 2016 Olympic
Games.
Women’s
laser radial: Manami DOI (JPN) won gold after taking silver four years ago in
Incheon.
The
bronze won by Nur Shazrin MOHAMAD LATIF (MAS) was the first-ever medal for
Malaysia in this event at the Asian Games.
Womens
470: Japan’s Yoshida AI and Yoshioka MIHO won gold. AI (JPN) equals the record
of winning three gold medals in a specific event in sailing, after JUNG
Sung-Ahn (KOR) and KIM Dae-Young (KOR) won the men's 470 in 1998, 2002 and
2006.
Women’s
49er FX: Min Kimberly LIM (SGP) and Rui Qi Cecilia LOW (SGP) became the first
women from Singapore to claim three medals in sailing at the Asian Games.
Sambo
Women’s
-48kg: Narantsetseg GANBAATAR (MGL) won gold and Oidovchimed BAASANSUREN (MGL)
took silver to take Mongolia to a record-equalling 21 medals at these Games,
equalling the NOC record for a single Asian Games that was set in Incheon in
2014.
Nodira
GULOVA (UZB) achieved bronze to hand Uzbekistan its 56th medal at these Games,
equalling its record highest medal total at a single Asian Games, set in 2010.
Men’s
-52kg: Baglan IBRAGIM (KAZ) won Kazakhstan's first gold in sambo at the Asian
Games.
Erdenebaatar
SHAALUU (MGL) collected Mongolia's 22nd medal at the 2018 Asian Games, breaking
the NOC's record of 21 set in 2014.
Uzbekistan
also broke its record for total number of medals at a single Asian Games when
Akhmad RAKHMATILLOEV (UZB) took bronze in this event. It was the 57th medal for
the NOC and took Uzbekistan past its record of 56, which was set in 2010.
Sepaktakraw
Women’s
quadrant: The bronze won by Laos was its third medal in sepaktakraw at the
Asian Games. Laos has also won at least three Asian Games medals in wushu (7)
and pencak silat (3).
Men’s
quadrant: Vietnam claimed bronze to record its 37th medal at the 2018 Asian
Games, the most for Vietnam at a single Asian Games. The previous record of 36
was set in Incheon in 2014.
Squash
Women’s
team: Malaysia took the bronze medal, after golds in both 2010 and 2014.
Nicol
Ann DAVID (MAS) collected a ninth medal at the Asian Games, equalling the
Malaysian record held by bowler Shalin ZULKIFLI.
Japan
claimed bronze, earning its first medal in squash at the Asian Games.
Men’s
team: Pakistan’s bronze medal was the NOC’s first squash medal in eight years.
Saurav
GHOSAL (IND) and Harinder Pal Singh SANDHU (IND) claimed bronze and won their
third Asian Games medal in this event.
GHOSAL
became the first man to win seven squash medals across all events. Only Nicol
DAVID (MAS) has also won at least seven squash medals (9 in total).
Triathlon
Women's
Olympic distance: Yuko TAKAHASHI (JPN) won gold. Japan has won each of the six
gold medals in triathlon at the Asian Games since the start of Guangzhou 2010
(men’s and women’s in 2010, men’s, women’s and mixed in 2014), including each
of the three golds in the women's Olympic distance event.
HOI
Long (MAC) took bronze for the first medal for Macau, China in any triathlon
event at the Asian Games. At age 34, HOI is the oldest medallist in the women's
Olympic distance event at the Asian Games.
