South Korea Fencers take home Two Golds

South
Korea fencers won two gold medals at the 18th Asian Games on the second day of
the fencing competition on Monday evening at the Cendrawasih Room of the
Jakarta Convention Center (JCC).
South
Korea (KOR) woman fencer Jeon Hee Sook clinched gold after defeating China’s Fu
Yiting 8-3 in the women's individual foil final. Fu had to settle for a silver,
while the bronze medals went to Hong Kong, China’s Liu Yan Wai from and Japan’s
Azuma Sera.
Jeon
said she was happy with the result, although she injured a hand during the
final.
"I
am grateful to be able to win in this match. Thank you to all who supported
it," she said while waving the South Korea flag.
South
Korea secured another gold and silver each when Gu Bongil outclassed compatriot
Oh Sanguk 15-14 in the men’s individual sabre final.
"Thank
you, thank you. I won gold," Gu thanked spectators in the southern gallery
of the Cendrawasih Room.
The
bronze medals for the men’s individual sabre went to Hong Kong fencer Low Ho
Tin and IR Iran fencer Seyed Ali Esmaeilzadeh Pakdaman.In the semifinals,
Esmaelilzadeh faced South Korea’s Oh, who lost stamina in the early minutes,
but regained his energy to launch counterattacks and defeat the Iran fencer.
