IR Iran runner Keyhani Hossein won the gold medal in the men’s 3,000 meter steeplechase at the 2018 Asian Games in Jakarta on Monday.

Keyhani touched the finish line with a time of 8:22.79 to break the 8:25.89 Asian Games record made by Taher Tareq Mubarak of Bahrain at the 2010 Guangzhou Games.

The silver medal was won by Qatar’s Baqharab Yaser with a time of 8:28.21 while bronze was won by Japan’s Shiojiri Kazuya with a time of 8:29.42. The Iranian runner waved to the fans and clenched his fist in celebration 50 meters from the finish line.
