India added a gold to its medal tally after Neeraj Chopra won the men's javelin throw final in athletics of the 2018 Asian Games at Gelora Bung Karno Stadium, Jakarta, on Monday night.

In the final round, Neeraj recorded a throw of 88.06 meters.

The silver medal was won by China’s Qizhen Liu with a throw of 82.22 meters and Pakistan’s Arshad Nadeem won the bronze medal with a throw of 80.75 meters.

Indonesia’s Abd Hafiz finished in 12th with a throw of 67.47 meters.

The Asian Games record in the event is held by China’s Qinggang Zhao, who threw for 89.15 meters at the 2014 Incheon Games in South Korea.
