Kazakhstan
secured the gold medal in the rhythmic gymnastics team all-around at JIExpo
Hall D, Kemayoran, Jakarta, on Monday.
Three
Kazakhstan rhythmic gymnasts – Alina Adilkhanova, Adilya Tlekenova and Dayana
Abdirbekova, chalked up 159.85 points, comprising 48.75 in the hoop, 49.15 in
the ball, 46.70 in the clubs and 15.25 in the ribbons.
Uzbekistan
took the silver medal with 155.30 points, while South Korea collected the
bronze with 151.10 points.
Kazakhstan’s
Alina scored the highest individual score with 52 points, followed by two
Uzbekistan gymnasts, namely Sabina Tashkenbaeva who posted 50.15 points, and
Nurinisso Usmanova who scored 49 points.
The
host country, Indonesia, did not participate in the team category as it only
has two gymnasts, Nabila Evandestiera and Wahyu Putri.
The
two took part in the qualifications of the individual category, in which Nabila
managed a 36.35 total for the 22nd spot of 29 gymnasts. Putri is ranked 26th
with 34.20 points. They will join the final round on Tuesday afternoon.
Indonesia’s
gymnastics team manager Dian Arifin said that Nabila and Putri needed to
improve their performance.
"We
have to improve it. We are left quite far behind. Nabila has more experience
than Putri, but Nabila still needs to develop her techniques,” Dian said.
Back
in the 2017 Southeast Asia Games in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, Nabila contributed
two bronze medals for Indonesia.
In
this year’s Asian Games, Indonesia so far has collected one silver medal by
Rifda Irfanaluthfi in the women's floor exercise event, and one bronze by Agus
Prayoko in the men's vault event.
The
achievements ended Indonesia’s rhythmic gymnastics medal drought since the
country’s first participation in the Asian Games.
