The Indonesian contingent did not get any medals on the second day of the 2018 Asian Games taekwondo event at JCC Senayan, Jakarta, on Monday.
Three Indonesian taekwondoins competed in the Kyorugi category, but failed to reach the semifinals.
In the category of men’s 58 kilograms, Reinaldy Atmanegara lost to his opponent, Kuangwu Hou from Chinese Taipei, in the preliminary round of qualification.
The 2017 Southeast Asian (SEA) Games gold medalist, Mariska Halinda, had given hope for Indonesia after successfully progressing to the quarterfinals of the 53 kg class. However, her attempt to get into the semifinals was denied after she was narrowly defeated 22-23 by Lebanese taekwondoin, Laetitia Aoun.
Meanwhile, in the women’s 67 kg category, Indonesian taekwondoin Shaleha Fitriana Yusuf failed to go further after losing to Qing Liu from Macau, China.
