Bahrain Wins two golds In mixed 4x400m
relay, Women's 5000m

Bahrain
collected two more athletic golds after its athletes became the fastest in the
mixed 4 x 400-meters relay and the women's 5,000 m events on Tuesday.
Bahrain's
mixed-relay team, consisting of Ali Khamis, Oluwakemi Adekoya, Salwa Naser and
Abbas, clocked in at three minutes 11 seconds in the 4 x 400 m relay at Gelora
Bung Karno Main Stadium in Jakarta.
The
silver medal went to India with a time of three minutes 15 seconds. The Indian
team comprises of Muhammed Anas Yahiya, Poovamma Raju Machettira, Hima Das and
Arokiarajiv.
Kazakhstan
quartet Svetlana Golendova, Dmitriy Koblov, Elina Mikhina and Mikhail Litvin
took home the bronze with a time of 3 minutes 19 seconds.
Indonesia’s
Heru Astriyanto, Gusti Ayu Mardili Ningsih, Arif Rahman and Maulidah came home
empty-handed.
Meanwhile,
Bahrain runner Kalkidan Befkadu grabbed the gold medal in the women’s 5,000 m
after reaching the finish line in 15 minutes 8 seconds.
Her
time, however, is still above the Asian Games record of 14 minutes 40 seconds,
set by China runner Sun YJ in the 2002 Asian Games in Busan, South Korea.
Kalkidan's
compatriot, Bontu Rebitu, won the bronze medal with a time of 15:36.
Kyrgyztan
runner Daria Maslova snatched the silver medal with a time of 15 minutes and 30
seconds.
Indonesian
runner Odekta Elvina Naibaho compeleted the race in 17 minutes and 20 seconds
and settled for 12th.
