Quetta Gladiators vs Islamabad United: PSL 2019 Match 6 preview

DUBAI: Shane Watson and Umar Akmal played a marvelous knock to comfortably take Quetta Gladiators home in 158-run target against Islamabad United in the first fixture of the day at the Dubai International Stadium.
Samit Patel, Rumman Raees and Cameroon Delport took one wicket each. Gladiators remained dominated in their chase throughout their batting innings.
37-year old Watson looked in complete control from the very first minute on the pitch till leaving the field after scoring 81 off 55 balls.
Umar Akmal's persistent form in back-to-back matches must have given a thought to ponder over to the selectors months before the coming World Cup.
Meanwhile, Ahmad Shehzad after a golden duck against Peshawar Zalmi managed to score only two runs. His depleted performance must be a source of concern for the Sarfraz-led team.
Sohail Tanvir starred for Quetta in the first innings after picking up four wickets including the all-important wicket of Luke Ronchi who went back to the pavilion after being caught first ball. Tanvir next sent Shadab Khan packing after taking a sharp catch off his own bowling.
This was followed by Mohammad Nawaz trapping Rizwan Hussain for three, leaving United reeling at eight-3 at the end of five overs.
Fawad Ahmed added to United's misery by taking the wicket of Cameron Delport (19) who was caught brilliantly by Tanvir, Hussain Talat (30) and Faheem Ashraf (1) to leave United six down.
Just as Asif Ali stabilized the innings for United, he was caught in the deep end by Nawaz for 36.
Wayne Parnell's blistering 41 of 20 came to an end after helping Islamabad to reach a competitive total of 157.

Lahore Qalandars vs Peshawar Zalmi: PSL 2019 Match 7 preview

DUBAI: Middle-order batsman Umar Amin's half-century drove Peshawar Zalmi to a comfortable win against Lahore Qalandars in a 79 run-chase in the second fixture at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium.
Zalmi completed the target after facing an initial stutter due to the fiery spells by Qalandars' pace attack.
Shaheen Afridi with a beautiful yorker dismissed Kamran Akmal while Haris Rauf and Rahat Ali took the wickets of Imam ul Haq and WL Madsen respectively.
Fast bowler Hasan Ali's fiery four-wicket haul complimented with top-notch bowling of Ibtisam Shiekh and Wahab Riaz wrapped up Lahore Qalandars on 78 runs in 15.1 overs.
Hasan Ali drew the first blood for Peshawar Zalmi after picking two wickets in an over against Lahore Qalandars - eliminating the possibility of a fiery start from Zaman and Akhtar.
Hasan Ali's bouncer and in-swingers were too hot to handle for the Qalandars' opening stand as the bowler with his sheer pace and seam departed the four opening batsmen, including skipper AB de Villiers.
De Villiers was captaining Qalandars as Hafeez has been advised to rest for a few days following initial scans conducted after he was hit on the thumb.
Riaz and Shiekh with Pollard extended the momentum created by Ali by picking up regular wickets during the course of the innings.
Qalandars' camp would be disappointed with the batting performance a day after a splendid win over Karachi Kings.
