athlete Jessa Khan won the gold medal in the women's ju-jitsu newaza 49 kg
category at the 2018 Asian Games after beating United Arab Emirates athlete
Mahra Alhinaai by submission at JIExpo Kemayoran, Jakarta, on Friday.
Jessa
forced Mahra to surrender with a lockdown, with a final score of 100-0 with 2
minutes 8 seconds remaining.
Mahra,
who fought in the red corner, had to settle for the silver medal.
Meanwhile,
Philippine athlete Margarita Ochoa won bronze after beating compatriot Jenna
Kaila Napolis 2-0.
Another
bronze was obtained by Vietnam athlete Thi Thanh Minh Duong, who won the fight
against Wadima Alyafei of the UAE with a 3-0 victory.
Indonesia
ju-jitsu athletes fell on the first day of the competition, namely Tobing
Cornelia Lumban (women’s 49 kg), Julius Saputera (men’s 69 kg), Ikhsan Ananda
Maulana (men’s 56 kg), Tirta Fransino (men’s 69 kg), Savitri Santi Apriyani
(women’s 49 kg) and Handoko Wahyu Hidayat (men’s 56 kg).
The
ju-jitsu contest at the 2018 Asian Games is held at the Jakarta Convention
Center Assembly Hall from Aug. 24 to 26.
